The 620UK-B Intrinsically Safe Explosive Ordinance Igniter Tester-Ohmmeter
The 620UK-B Low Resistance Explosive Safety Ohmmeter/Igniter Tester is a portable Intrinsically Safe Explosive Safety Digital Ohmmeter. It was specifically designed (and UK Ministry of Defense EEX Approved) for ultra-safe resistance testing around fueling depots (flammable vapours present), Aircraft bonds/connections, refineries and explosive devices (i.e. squibs, igniters, flares, detonators, munitions, warheads) in volatile and explosive atmospheres. The AMPTEC 620UK-B Ohmmeter complies with the EU ATEX Directive and is Intrinsic Safety Standard (Eex-ib-IIc-T4) compliant and certified under the ATEX Laboratory Certificate # SIRA03ATEX2076. The 620UK-B is Intrinsically Safe certified and can be safely used and "located where flammable gases and vapours of groups IIA, IIB, and IIC are present". The 620UK-B Ohmmeter is only certified for use in ambient temperatures in the range of -20°C and +40°C and should not be used outside this temparature range. The AMPTEC 620UK-B Safety Ohmmeter is also: EMC tested in accordance with British Defence Standard 59-41 and British Defence Standards 66-31, 07-85 and 05-34 (-40° Cold temperature, Damp Heat +°70C, Humidity and Altitude tests) compliant. The 620UK-B Ohmmeter provides a reliable and safe means of measuring resistance in explosive and volatile atmospheres.
No Hazardous Mercury Batteries - Any brand of Alkaline "AA" battery will work
The AMPTEC 620UKB Bonding Ohmmeter does not use hazardous mercury batteries like those used in the older model ohmmeters. It can be powered by any standard high quality brand "AA" Alkaline batteries ( Duracell Ultra or Duracell Coppertoptm MN1500, Energizer, Eveready etc. requires 4 each). The AMPTEC 620UK-B Bonding Milliohmmeter can be safely used with any brand of alkaline "AA" battery, cheaper quality brands of batteries will simply not last as long.
Acrylic Epoxy Encapsulated Coated Circuit Board and More ...
A common question we get from evaluating safety engineers is "What sort of corrosion preventative on components on the PCB and electrical and mechanical measures are taken with the AMPTEC 620UKB to prevent an internal loose wire, metal screw, or washer inside from floating around and shorting the battery output to the terminal output connections?". The ohmmeter's output connections are insulated inside the unit with heat shrink tubing covering all of it's conductive surfaces. The entire PCB (except for the calibration trim pots) is also non-conductive acrylic epoxy encapsulated/coating, to make it extremely difficult if not impossible to expose al conductive pathway. This coating also provides excellent humidity protection and resistance to environmental extremes ( dust etc.)
