Micro OWL 2 10-Gigabit Optical Fiber Test Kit with WaveSource Multi Mode LED Light Source(Kit-M2-WSMDxx)
Many fiber optic network bids and Requests For Quote (RFQ) are
citing cabling standards to specify the set of guidelines (such as fiber
length) that the network installer must follow during the network
installation. Adherence to such standards is meant to ensure the
quality of the installation and guarantee that the network will perform
as it was designed.
The process of testing a network installation to ensure its adherence
to specified standards is called certification, and often requires hardcopy
documentation as proof of adherence to standards
The Micro OWL 2 / WaveSource MM Test Kit contains the tools
necessary for certifying multimode fiber optic links against a myriad
of popular cabling standards, including two user-customizable
standards. The current Micro OWL 2 series meters come standard with a small state-of-the-art UNIVERSAL adapter fully reliable to allow use of ST, SC, FC or any 2.5 mm patch cables as test cable which saves money on consumables (test cables wear out). Sorry physics and optics do not allow the same universal connector to work well on any brand of the light source. Hence, light sources must have ST, SC, or FC connector ports.
OWL's Micro OWL 2 Optical FiberPower Meter is multimode and
singlemode ready, and contains a user-friendly Fiber Link Wizard
that performs link budget calculation, and sets a reference value
using the characteristics of the link. This reference is the PASS/FAIL
threshold and is calculated against the chosen standard. Up to 1000
fiber runs may be stored, and downloaded to a PC for report
generation using our OWL Reporter software. Its universal port
allows connections to ST, SC, and FC, and also includes a 1.25mm
universal port for connection to LC, MU, and other SFF connectors.
The WaveSource MM multimode LED source contains a single-port,
dual-wavelength output (850nm / 1300nm), which is temperaturestabilized
for accurate measurements. Two connector options are
available (ST and SC).
Each Micro OWL 2 test kit comes with a N.I.S.T. TraceableMicro OWL 2 optical fiber power meter one or more complementary fiber optic light sources, based upon the application. Many configurations are available. Included with each test kit are a hard-shell carrying case, protective rubber boots, carrying straps, 9-volt batteries, certificate of NIST-traceability, and a CD-ROM with free OWL Reporter software and operation manual.
