OWL's Laser HOOTS LH-1310 & LH-1550 are high output optical talk sets designed to work with single mode fiber, and will automatically adjust the volume to compensate for fiber loss over a 20 dB range of input light power.  HOOTS stands for High Output Optical Talk Set. OWL's laser based talk set also serves as a calibrated -10 dBm light source. It uses OWL's laser light source technology to convert your voice into optical signals.

OWL LH-1310 &1550 offer Secure Communications

The Laser HOOTS is a reliable alternative to wireless communications systems. It offers both security and electromagnetic immunity and is intended for use in installation and signal tracing as an alternative and replacement for Walkie-Talkie communication sets. Optionally, they can be embedded as a permanent part of a fiber network installation. Use it during the installation for end-to-end voice communications. After installation, leave it attached to a pair of dark fibers inside the fiber patch panel. This way, the Laser HOOTS can be used by communications
personnel any time operations or management functions need to be undertaken in the fiber cable closet.

Two units are included with each set; one for each end of the fiber pair that you use to communicate.  It uses our laser light source technology to convert your voice into optical signals.  The Laser HOOTS is a reliable alternative to wireless communications systems within a fiber optic network environment due to its range, security, and electromagnetic immunity.

Wireless communications is difficult when working under ground and the electrical noise and walls in many plants drown out radio (RF) signals.OWL's LH-1310 & LH-1550 Fiber communications is more secure and most of all, immune to the effects of EMI/RFI. Use of OWL's Optical Fiber HOOT Talk sets circumvents public broadcasting of passwords and disclosure of confidential secret net addresses.
