Industrial Standards for Insulation Resistance and Continuity Testing

 

Biddle’s MIT400 Series Meggers including models MIT400, MIT410, MIT420, MIT430, MIT480, MIT481, MIT485and MIT40X are the industry’s workhorses when it come to  Insulation Resistance and Continuity Testing. The new MIT400 series Meggers replaces Biddle’s old BM80 and BM400 industry standards with a wider range of new instruments that incorporate measurement techniques using modern technology to provide state-of-the-art testers that are more accurate, more compact, more rugged as well as safer and easier to use.

 

Designed for Industrial Insulation Resistance and Continuity Testing

 

The new Biddle Megger MIT400 Series insulation and continuity testers has been designed for electrical testing by power utilities, industrials, telecommunication companies, commercial/domestic electricians and anyone with unique test voltage requirements. The wide range of features also makes the MIT400 Series ideal for maintenance technicians and engineers

Insulation Resistance Testing made Easy
Biddle’s new MIT400 Series Meggers offers 5 selectable test voltages from 50V to 1000V, model dependent. Insulation resistance measurement extends from 20 GΩ to 200 GΩ. The Meggers can display both the Insulation Test Voltage and Insulation Leakage Current simultaneously.

Buzzer Feature Provides Pass/Fail Non-Judgment IR Testing

A buzzer threshold permits an operator to set a minimum Insulation Resistance buzzer limit. In the event the Insulation Resistance falls below the preset minimum limit value, the buzzer alerts the failed condition.

 

Designed for Telecommunication Testing

 

Biddle’s models MIT 480, MIT481, and MIT485 are designed to cope with the additional requirements of the telecommunications industry. Special features include a 5 V and 100V range insulation testing as standard, plus higher voltages as required.

In addition, the voltage detection test inhibit feature has been raised to 75V (from 50V), to allow testing of cables with coactivity coupled induced voltages, which would normally inhibit such testing with a 50V protected instrument.

 

Measure Cable Length and Capacitance

The MIT481 and MIT485 models include measurement of cable distance by capacitance, providing a convenient cable length without the need to use TDR technology with adjustable cable capacitance from 40 nF/Km to 60 nF/Km (default is 50 nf/Km).

 

 

MIT40X Special Applications Testing

 

The MIT40X provides a new solution for unique insulation voltage measurement requirements. The MIT40X has a variable insulation test voltage from 10V to 100V in 1V steps, selectable in the "Set-Up" menu.

 

 

Dual Simultaneously Displays ~New Meaning to IR Testing

 

The MIT400 Series Meggers offers three readouts consisting of an impressive Dual Digital Display readout that allows complimentary information to be displayed simultaneously such as, MΩ +Test Voltage or MΩ + Leakage Current or Capacitance + Cable Length. The third readout is a simulated analog needle movement meter. The second smaller digital display simultaneously displays the following information, depending upon the mode of operation or function chosen:

Programmable Dwell Time Testing of Insulation Resistance PI and DAR

Timed insulation testing of 30/60 seconds and 1min/10min for DAR/PI testing is also available on the MIT400, MIT410, MIT420, MIT430, MIT40X, excluding the MIT480. A general timed measurement is also available with selectable 1 minute steps up to 10 minutes. (PI is Polarization Index)(DAR is Dielectric Absorption Rate)
